Duong Long Towers

Duong Long is a group of three brick towers in the Binh Dinh countryside, built around the end of the twelfth century, and the central one at about thirty-nine metres is the tallest surviving Cham tower anywhere. What sets them apart from most Cham sites is the sandstone carving worked into the brick at the bases and cornices: rows of elephants, garudas, makara, dancers and lotus, executed at a scale and density not matched elsewhere in Champa. Many blocks fell and were recovered during excavation and are laid out around the towers. They are recognised as a special national monument.

Year round, early or late for the heat. Two hours.

Things to know

There is no shade and the site is hot. Interpretation is limited. Restoration has been extensive and the brickwork is visibly patched. It is a drive inland from the coast.
