Getting thereNorth of Himara on the coast road; walk from Himara or bus
EntryFree; sunbed charges

Livadhi lies immediately north of Himara, a long curve of pebble and coarse sand backed by olive groves and a flat plain rather than by cliffs, which makes it more open and less enclosed than the dramatic bays further north. It has developed steadily with hotels and restaurants set back from the water, but it retains more space than Dhermi or Jale and is generally quieter, which suits families. The water shelves gradually and is clear. At the southern end the rocks begin and there is decent snorkelling toward the Himara headland. Because Himara is a proper town rather than a resort village, supplies and services are close, and the beach is walkable from it along the shore.

What you actually see

  • A long open curve - pebble and coarse sand backed by a flat plain.
  • Olive groves behind - the cultivation running down to the shore.
  • A gradual shelf - water deepening slowly from the beach.
  • Rocks at the southern end - snorkelling toward the Himara headland.

When to go

June to September, with June and September quieter and cheaper. A day, or as a base. Most businesses close from October. The water is warmest in August and September.

Honest expectations

Development along the road behind is untidy and continuing. Sunbed operators take much of the frontage in season. The pebble is coarse and shoes help. There is little natural shade. Water can be cold where springs enter.

Nearby

Himara is south; Porto Palermo lies further south along the coast.
