Suoi Voi runs off the Bach Ma range and has cut a series of basins and pools into the granite of its bed, cold and clear, shaded by forest - and one boulder in the stream has the shape of an elephant's head and trunk, which gives the place its name. It is used by local families and by visitors as a swimming stop between Hue and Da Nang, with simple bamboo platforms and stalls along the bank in season. Water levels change sharply with rain and the stream can rise fast; in the wet months it is closed. Rubbish left by visitors has been a recurring problem.

Honest expectations
The stream rises quickly after rain and has been dangerous. It is crowded at summer weekends. Litter is a persistent problem. Facilities are basic and seasonal. Rocks are slippery.
