Binh Hung lies a few hundred metres off the coast road between Cam Ranh and Ninh Thuan, a small island whose economy is lobster: the bay around it is full of floating rafts with cages beneath, and the village lives on farming and selling them, which is also what most visitors come to eat. The water is clear and the shore is rock and coral rubble with a few small beaches, snorkelled from boats. The coast road that reaches it, route 702, runs along cliffs with the sea below and is a substantial part of the trip. Development on the island has been fast and unplanned.

Building on the island has outpaced its water and waste infrastructure, which shows. There is little sand. Boats stop in swell. It is busy with domestic visitors at weekends and holidays.
