Tjaro

Tjaro is small, wooded and protected as a nature reserve, about fifteen minutes out from Jarnavik on the Blekinge coast. There are no cars and no village: a single inn and hostel in old estate buildings, some cabins, a campsite, and paths through oak and pine to rock bathing places and small coves. The archipelago here is different from Bohuslan or Stockholm - more wooded, lower, with more oak - and the water is warmer than the west coast. Kayaks can be hired for the surrounding islands. It works as a day trip from Ronneby or Karlshamn, or as somewhere to stay for a few nights with nothing to do.

June to August. A full day or overnight.

Things to know

Boats run a seasonal schedule and stop outside summer. There is one place to eat and it books up. Accommodation is limited. There is genuinely nothing to do beyond swimming and walking.
