Sandgrund Lars Lerin

Lars Lerin is from Munkfors in Varmland and works in watercolour at a scale the medium is not usually pushed to - large sheets of Nordic landscape, interiors, ships, Arctic light - and this gallery opened in 2012 to hold a permanent showing of his work in Sandgrund, a building that had been a dance hall and events venue on the Klaralven. The hang changes periodically and includes work from his travels in Greenland, the Faroes and northern Norway alongside Varmland subjects. He is unusually well known in Sweden for a living painter, partly through television, so the gallery draws a wide audience rather than an art one.
