Ribersborg Kallbadhus

The bathhouse has stood on its pier off Ribersborg since 1898, rebuilt after a storm four years later, bought by the city in 1966 and listed as a historic building in 1995, a wooden building reached by a long walk out over the water, and it works as it always has: separate men's and women's sections, open-air decks, saunas, and steps straight down into the Oresund. Bathing is naked in the sections, which is the convention and not negotiable. People swim through the winter, going from the sauna into water close to freezing, which is the reason many come. There is a small cafe. From the deck the Oresund bridge is in view to the south and the Danish coast opposite.

Year round; winter dipping is the point for many. Two hours.

Practical notes

Bathing in the sections is naked - it is not optional. Weekend evenings are crowded and there can be a wait. Winter water is close to freezing. Facilities are basic by spa standards.
