Ramsvikslandet is technically an island since the Sotenkanalen was cut through in the 1930s, and it is as bare as the Bohuslan coast gets - rounded pink granite scoured by ice and then by sea, with almost no trees, heather and juniper in the hollows and rock pools left in basins after high water. The section called Klevar or the rock kingdom is the most striking, a stretch of worn hollows and channels. Sheep graze parts of it. There are sand beaches on the western side at Tullboden and Valon, a coastal path over the rock, and no development beyond a campsite and car park.

Honest expectations
There is no shade or shelter of any kind on the rock. The going is uneven and hard on ankles. Summer fills the car parks. Wind is constant off the sea.
