The Manín gorge cuts through a limestone ridge near Považská Bystrica, and at its tightest the walls close to about ten metres apart with cliffs rising three hundred metres above, which makes it the narrowest gorge in the country. A road and stream run through it. The rock is used for climbing, with hundreds of bolted routes on the walls, and marked paths climb out of the gorge onto Veľký Manín above.

When to go
April to October is the season. The gorge is cool and shaded in summer. Ice on the road makes winter access difficult.
Honest expectations
A road runs through the gorge and traffic makes walking it unpleasant in places. Rockfall is a real risk under the walls. The neighbouring Kostolecka gorge is the better walk.
