Changi Beach Park

Changi Beach Park runs for about three and a half kilometres along the northeastern shore facing the Johor Strait, and it is the oldest coastal park in Singapore, kept deliberately plain: casuarinas, sand, barbecue pits and camping grounds rather than landscaping. Aircraft on the approach to Changi pass directly overhead at low altitude, which draws plane spotters. The Changi Point boardwalk at the eastern end runs over the water past the fishing village and jetty.

• The boardwalk - a walkway over the water at Changi Point past the jetty.
• The casuarina strip - the old plain planting along the sand.
• The bumboats - ferries to Pulau Ubin leaving from Changi Point.

When to go

Year round; the beach is busiest at weekends with campers and barbecues. Low tide exposes a wide flat. Afternoon storms are frequent.

Honest expectations

The water faces a busy strait and swimming is not advisable. Aircraft noise is constant, which is either the point or a problem. Weekend camping fills the ground and it can be loud.
