Aruba Linear Park

The Linear Park runs along Aruba's leeward coast from the airport through Oranjestad and north toward the resort strip, a paved path for walking, running and cycling with planting, exercise stations, shade structures and art along it, built in stages from the 2010s. At around eight kilometres it is described as one of the longest linear parks in the Caribbean. The sea is alongside for most of it. It was built partly as infrastructure and partly to give residents somewhere to exercise on an island with very little public open space.

What you actually see

• The art and structures - the installations and shade points along the way.
• The sea alongside - water in view for most of the route.

When to go

December to April is the dry high season. Early morning and evening are coolest for walking or cycling. The trade wind blows constantly.

Honest expectations

Shade is limited despite the structures and midday use is hard. Sections run beside busy road. Bicycles must be hired separately.
