The Punggol Waterway is a four-kilometre channel cut through the new town in 2011 to link two reservoirs, and the park along it was designed as the town's spine: cycle and running paths both sides, planted banks, bridges of different designs, a water play area and a lookout. It is a piece of deliberate landscape engineering rather than anything natural, and it works, with the town built to face the water.

What you actually see

  • The waterway - a four-kilometre cut linking two reservoirs through the town.
  • The bridges - several crossings of varying design along the channel.
  • The planted banks - landscaped edges with a cycle path both sides.
  • The town design - a new town built to face its own waterway.

When to go

Year round; early morning and evening are coolest and busiest with runners. Afternoon storms are frequent. The park is lit at night.

Honest expectations

It is entirely artificial and reads that way; anyone wanting nature should go to Coney Island next door. There is little shade on some stretches. Weekend crowds are heavy.

Nearby

Coney Island is north, and Lorong Halus is east.
