Anse Marron

Anse Marron sits at the southern tip of La Digue behind a barrier of granite boulders large enough that the route through them is a scramble rather than a walk, and there is no path in the ordinary sense: guides lead the way through gaps, over rock and along the shore. A natural pool enclosed by boulders sits at the beach, calm while the ocean breaks outside. Going without a guide is strongly discouraged and people get lost.

When to go

April to October has the calmer conditions. Guides run trips in the morning. High tide and swell can close the route entirely.

Before you go

A guide is genuinely necessary; people get lost and injured attempting it alone. The scramble is demanding and not suitable for poor mobility. Tide and swell can make the route impassable.
