A stream a short drive inland from Apia runs over rock worn so smooth that the drops function as slides, the main one around five metres and several smaller ones below it, each ending in a pool. A long flight of concrete steps descends from the parking to the stream. It is used by Samoan families and by visitors alike, and it depends entirely on the water: in the dry season the flow can be too thin to slide on.

- The main slide - the worn rock chute of around five metres into the pool.
- The smaller drops - the further slides below the main one.
- The steps down - the long concrete descent from the parking area.
- The pools - the basins at the foot of each slide.
When to go
November to April has the most water and the best sliding. The dry season can leave the flow too thin. Weekends are busiest.
Honest expectations
In the dry season there may be too little water to slide at all. The climb back up the steps is long and hot. Injuries happen and there is no supervision.
