Sopoaga Falls

Sopoaga drops around fifty metres into a gorge on the southeastern side of Upolu, and the viewing arrangement is unusual: a family owns the land opposite and has planted a garden of Samoan crop and craft plants along the rim, so entry is through the garden and the fall is seen across the gorge from a series of viewpoints. The plants are labelled with their traditional uses, which is most of what the visit consists of.

When to go

May to October is the drier season with clearer views. The wet season brings more water. The garden keeps daytime hours.

Honest expectations

There is no path down to the fall; it is a distant view only. The entry fee is for the garden rather than the waterfall. An hour covers everything.
