Le Diamant is a rock standing off the southern coast of Saint-Pierre, and the marked trail out to the headland above it crosses the bare interior of the island: bog, rock outcrop, small ponds and heath, with the sea appearing suddenly at the far edge. The walk takes a couple of hours each way at an easy pace. It is one of the better marked routes on the island.

When to go
June to September is the walking season. Fog can close the route in at any point. Ground is wettest in spring.
Honest expectations
Fog is a real problem on this walk and the markers are not always easy to follow in it. The ground is wet and boots matter. There is no shelter along the route.
