Terres d'Amanar

Terres d'Amanar sits on a hillside in the first line of Atlas foothills above Tahanaout, about forty minutes from Marrakech, and it is a ropes-and-zipline park with accommodation attached - via ferrata, tree-top courses, ziplines across the valley, archery, mountain biking, horse riding and walking, on a site of terraced ground with juniper and holm oak and a view back over the plain. It was set up with a stated social purpose: employing and training people from the surrounding villages, supporting a craft workshop and putting a share of revenue into local projects, which is a model that gets claimed more often than practised and is worth asking about. The 2023 earthquake was centred in this part of the Atlas and the district around it was badly affected; check what is running. It is the practical answer to a day with older children outside Marrakech.
