Enemanit Island

Enemanit is a small islet in Majuro lagoon a short boat ride from the capital, and it is where people from Majuro go when they want a beach without the crowding and the water quality problems of the built-up strip. There is sand, shade, snorkelling off the reef edge and not much else. Weekends bring picnic parties out; weekdays it is often empty. The islet sits on the northern side of the lagoon, far enough from the causeway strip that the water clears noticeably.

What you actually see

• The beach - sand away from the crowded capital strip.
• The snorkelling - reef off the islet edge in clearer water.
• The shade - the coconut and scrub behind the sand.
• The short crossing - twenty minutes by boat from Majuro.

When to go

December to April is the drier season. Weekends are busiest with picnic parties. Boats depend on lagoon conditions.

Honest expectations

There are no facilities at all and everything must be brought. The islet is privately held and access is arranged through boat operators. It is busy at weekends.
