Prison Island

Prison Island is a very small patch of sand and coral rubble in the lagoon a short distance off Home Island, with a few palms on it and reef around the edges. The name records its use in the plantation era as a place to isolate people, and the story is part of what local boat operators tell. It is now a snorkelling and picnic stop, and it takes only minutes to walk around.

It is extremely small and there is nothing there beyond sand and palms. Access is by charter boat only and must be arranged. There are no facilities and no shade to speak of.
