The Sky Bridge is a curved steel deck a hundred and twenty-five metres long, suspended on cables from a single eighty-two-metre pylon at about six hundred and sixty metres on Gunung Mat Cincang, and it was assembled in place by helicopter in 2004. The curve means the view changes as you walk it, out over the Andaman Sea, the Telaga Tujuh waterfall and across to Thailand on a clear day; two triangular sections of glass floor look straight down. Access is by the Langkawi cable car from Oriental Village, itself a steep three-stage ride, and then either an inclined lift called the SkyGlide or a long flight of steps. The bridge closed for over a year for maintenance in 2012 and has closed again since, so it is worth checking that it is open before buying tickets.

What you actually see

  • A curved suspended deck - 125 metres hung from a single pylon.
  • Glass floor panels - two sections looking straight down the mountainside.
  • Views to Thailand - the Andaman, the waterfall and the islands on a clear day.
  • A three-stage cable car - the steep ride up from Oriental Village.

When to go

December to March; early morning before cloud. Half a day.

Honest expectations

Cloud and rain close the cable car and the bridge frequently. Queues at Oriental Village are long by mid-morning. The bridge has closed for extended maintenance before - check first.

Nearby

Telaga Tujuh waterfall and Oriental Village are at the base; Pantai Cenang is south.
