The Ketane falls drop around one hundred and twenty metres into a gorge in the interior of Lesotho, and there is no road: reaching them means two days on a pony or on foot from Malealea, staying in villages on the way, which is why very few people see them. The country crossed to get there is the point as much as the falls, gorges and high grassland with scattered villages and no vehicles.

When to go
November to March is the summer season with the strongest flow and the mildest weather. Winter brings hard frost and snow. Summer storms can make river crossings dangerous.
Honest expectations
There is no road and the trip takes four days minimum with a guide and ponies. Accommodation is village huts with no facilities. This is a serious undertaking rather than an excursion.
