Monogaga Beach
A long wild beach between Sassandra and San Pedro, backed by forest and a protected coastal reserve.

Monogaga is a long crescent of sand between Sassandra and San Pedro backed by coastal forest that is part of a protected reserve, and it is the emptiest good beach within easy reach of anywhere in Côte d'Ivoire: a few fishing villages, palms, and very little else. The forest behind holds monkeys and birds, and the reserve was created to protect one of the last stretches of intact littoral forest on this coast.

When to go
November to March is the dry season and the most comfortable. The rains from April to July are heavy. The surf is strong year round.
Practical notes
There are no lifeguards and the surf and currents on this coast are dangerous. Facilities are minimal to none. The coast road is rough in places.
