Drangsnes Hot Tubs

Drangsnes has three concrete hot tubs set into the sea wall on the village front, fed by hot water and free to anyone who wants them, with a small changing hut on the other side of the road. There is nothing else to it: you cross, get in, and sit looking at Steingrimsfjordur and the island of Grimsey - the Strandir one, not the famous northern island - with fishing boats going past. Because the tubs belong to the village and cost nothing, the etiquette matters more than usual: shower properly first, keep the noise down, and remember that people live in the houses directly behind.

Honest expectations

These sit in the middle of a village and voices carry into people's homes. Showering before entry is expected and not optional. There is no supervision. Nothing here is provided for visitors beyond the hut, so leaving it as you found it is the whole deal.
