Kere is a very small island in the Bijagós north of Bubaque, forested and ringed with sand, run as a single low-key lodge with a handful of rooms and no other occupation. The tide moves a long way here and the beaches change shape with it. Dolphins work the channels and the fishing is the same as at Rubane. It is about as quiet as the archipelago gets. The island covers only a few hectares, which makes it one of the smallest inhabited spots in the archipelago.

When to go
November to May is the dry season and the main window. The rains from June close most operations. Tides govern boat movement.
Honest expectations
Access is through the lodge only and packages are expensive. There is nothing to do beyond the beach and the water. Getting there means a day's travel from Bissau.
