Dulombi protects savanna and gallery forest along the Corubal river in Guinea-Bissau's interior, part of a corridor of protected land linking the eastern parks, and it holds hippos in the river, chimpanzees in the gallery forest, antelope on the open ground and a heavy bird population. It was declared in 2015 and infrastructure has not caught up. Visitors are very few. It was declared together with Boé and a set of corridors as part of a single conservation programme.

What you actually see

  • The Corubal river - the water the park is laid out along.
  • The gallery forest - the tree cover along the river banks.
  • The hippos - the animals in the river through the park.
  • The corridor role - the park's place in the chain linking the eastern reserves.

When to go

November to May is the dry season and the practical window. The rains from June make the roads impassable. Wildlife concentrates near the river in the dry.

Honest expectations

The park is very new and has almost no infrastructure or management presence. Access needs a guide and four wheel drive. Wildlife sightings are unlikely.

Nearby

Bafatá is north, and Boé is southeast.
