Fuller Falls

Fuller Falls is the second waterfall at Kintampo and the gentler of the pair: instead of a single high drop the Oyoko river spreads over a broad ledge of rock and comes down in a series of low cascades into shallow pools, which makes it safer for wading and swimming than the main falls and a good deal quieter. The walk in from the road takes about fifteen minutes through farmland and then forest, crossing the river. Picnic spots sit along the bank. It is named after a British colonial officer. Most travellers stopping in Kintampo see only the main falls, which leaves this one relatively empty even at weekends.

When to go

June to October in the rains for the fullest flow; the cascades thin considerably in the dry season. Mornings are cooler for the walk. Weekdays are almost empty.

Honest expectations

The falls are low and wide rather than dramatic, and can be a trickle in March and April. The approach path is muddy after rain. Facilities are minimal beyond a gate and a fee. Rocks in the river are slippery.
