Piedra Nzas is a bare granite dome standing out of the rainforest in the interior of RĂo Muni, an inselberg of the kind found across this part of Africa where the softer rock around has weathered away and left the harder core exposed. It is protected as a natural monument. The rock is climbed on the sloping side and the view from the top runs over unbroken forest in every direction.

When to go
December to February is the drier season and the rock is safest. Wet rock makes the climb dangerous. The long rains make the roads difficult.
Honest expectations
The rock is dangerous when wet and there are no fixed aids. Access needs a guide and a rough drive. There is no shade at all on the dome.
