Playa Las Flores

Las Flores is a right-hand point break on the eastern coast beside El Cuco, breaking over a rock and sand bottom and running for a long ride when the swell is right, and it is generally counted among the better right points in Central America, which is what has drawn surfers and built the camps and lodges above the beach. The break works best on a south or southwest swell, which arrives mainly from March to October, and it holds size. Punta Mango, reached by boat from here, and Esteron nearby are the other breaks on this stretch. Outside the surf the beach is small, rocky in places, and the shore is quiet.

When to go

March to October for the swell, with the biggest surf typically from April to September. The dry season from November to February has smaller waves and better weather. Camps book out in peak swell months.

Honest expectations

This is a surf destination and the beach itself is small and rocky. The break is over rock and not suitable for beginners. Camps and lodges are the accommodation and are priced for surf travel. Crowds in the water build in season.
