Playa Porto Mari

Porto Mari is managed private beach with a fee, a bar, loungers and a dive shop, and two things distinguish it: the double reef offshore, an inner reef and then a second beyond it at greater depth, which makes it one of the more interesting shore dives on the island, and the pigs, a small group that wanders down onto the sand and into the shallows and has become the beach's calling card. Hiking trails run into the scrub behind.

When to go

Year round; open daily with set hours. Mornings are calmest for diving. It closes in the early evening.

Honest expectations

Feeding the pigs is discouraged and they can be pushy around food. There is an entry fee and the access road is rough dirt. It closes before sunset.
