The ostrich farm occupies dry scrub country in the east of the island and runs guided tours on open safari trucks through the breeding pens and paddocks, taking in the incubators, the chicks and the adult birds, with an explanation of how the operation works. It is aimed squarely at families and there is a restaurant serving ostrich alongside local dishes. An adjoining aloe plantation is included in some tours.

What you actually see

  • The safari-truck tour - the guided run through the paddocks and pens.
  • The incubators and chicks - the hatching operation shown on the tour.
  • The adult birds - the breeding stock in the open paddocks.
  • The aloe plantation - the adjoining crop included on some tours.

When to go

Year round; tours run at set times through the day. Mornings are cooler in an area with no shade. It closes in the late afternoon.

Honest expectations

Tours run to a fixed schedule and waiting between them is dull. The site is hot and exposed with limited shade. It is a working farm and the animals are livestock.

Nearby

Sint Joris Bay is north, and Willemstad is southwest.
