Playa Piskado, also called Playa Grandi, is a working fishermen's beach: boats pulled up on the sand, cleaning tables at the water's edge, and green turtles that have learned to gather in the shallows for the offcuts thrown in. Snorkellers get closer to turtles here than anywhere else on the island, which is exactly why the situation is contested, since the animals are congregating on a food source people created.

The turtles are here because of the fish scraps, and the crowding around them is heavily criticised. Touching them is prohibited and still routine. The beach is narrow, working and often busy.
