Playa Lagun is a short strip of sand at the head of a narrow inlet walled by cliffs on both sides, with the village's fishing boats pulled up on it, and the reason snorkellers come is the seagrass in the middle of the cove where green turtles feed through the day. The cliff walls drop steeply and are followed by snorkellers and divers out towards the mouth. The cove is small enough that thirty people make it feel full.

What you actually see

  • The turtles - green turtles feeding on the seagrass through the middle of the cove.
  • The cliff walls - the steep sides followed out towards the mouth by snorkellers.
  • The fishing boats - the village craft pulled up on the sand.
  • The narrow inlet - a cove enclosed tightly enough to stay calm in most conditions.

When to go

Year round; mornings have the calmest water and the fewest people. Turtles are present most days. Afternoons bring the crowds.

Honest expectations

The beach is very small and crowds quickly. Touching or chasing the turtles is prohibited and still happens constantly. Parking is limited to a handful of spaces.

Nearby

Playa Jeremi is south, and Playa Kalki is north.
