Skrip

Skrip is the oldest village on Brac, occupied from Illyrian times, and the evidence is built into the buildings: the Radojkovic tower, Venetian in its upper parts, stands on foundations of huge unmortared blocks laid by Illyrian builders, so the wall reads as two entirely different construction eras stacked. The tower holds the Brac museum, with material on the island's stone quarrying - Brac limestone built Diocletian's palace and has been shipped as far as public buildings in Washington. Roman sarcophagi and a mausoleum are set into the village fabric elsewhere. The village is small, high and inland, away from the coast development.

Honest expectations

The museum is small and opens on a limited schedule. The village has almost no services. Getting there means a ferry and a drive inland. It is a quick visit rather than a day.
