Krcic Waterfall

The Krcic rises under Dinara and runs about ten kilometres before dropping around 22 metres at Topolje - and at the foot of that fall the Krka is considered to begin, so this is the source of the river that makes the falls at Skradinski Buk downstream. The catch is that the Krcic is seasonal, and works for a small hydro plant on the stream have reduced it further: it runs hard with snowmelt and spring rain and dries out completely in summer, so for a good part of the year there is a dry rock face and a bed of stones where the waterfall should be. Going in March or April means seeing it; going in August means seeing where it was.

March to May, while it is flowing; it is usually dry from June. Two hours.

Things to know

Visiting in summer means a dry cliff, which disappoints people who did not check. The path down is steep and slippery when the fall is running. There are no facilities. Parking is a roadside pull-in.
