Biserujka sits under a field on the northern part of Krk, a compact cave of about a hundred metres with several chambers holding stalactites, columns and flowstone in good condition, reached by a staircase and walked on a fitted path. Its older name was Vitezica, and the current one comes from a story that pirates hid treasure - biser meaning pearl - in it; nothing has ever been found. It was fitted with lighting and opened as one of the earlier show caves in this part of Croatia. Bones of small mammals and remains from earlier periods have come out of the deposits.

When to go
April to October; tours are less frequent off season. An hour.
Honest expectations
The visit is about twenty to thirty minutes and the cave is small. Access is guided only. Steps in and out make it unsuitable for poor mobility. It is cool inside year round.
