Fiercely hospitable; expect rakija, long kafana evenings and hosts who will not let you leave hungry.

Worth knowing before you go
- The dinar is the currency and cash is still king in markets and small kafanas, though cards work fine in cities
- Tipping is rounding up or about 10% for good service
- Smoking indoors is still common in bars and kafanas

Hospitality is non-negotiable and coffee is a ceremony; nothing worthwhile here is done in a hurry.

Worth knowing before you go
- The currency is the convertible mark (BAM), pegged to the euro; many small places are cash-only
- Tipping is rounding up or about 10% for good service, left in cash
- Bosnian coffee arrives with a sugar cube and often rahat lokum - dip the cube, sip, take your time
