Chindini sits at the southern point of Grande Comore, a beach of pale sand at the end of the island road with the channel in front of it and Mohéli visible across the water on clear days. Boats cross to Mohéli from near here. The water is calm inside the reef and the beach is one of the better ones on an island where sand is scarce. A few simple places to stay operate nearby.

When to go
May to October is the drier and cooler season and calmest for crossings. The rains run November to April with cyclone risk. Mornings are calmest.

Facilities are a couple of simple places and little else. Boat crossings to Mohéli are small, open and weather-dependent. The road down takes around ninety minutes.
