Cemetery Beach is the public access at the northern end of Seven Mile Beach, named for the small burial ground beside the road, and it is where people go to swim off that stretch without dealing with hotel frontage. The reef sits close enough in to snorkel out to from the sand. There is parking, some shade from sea grape and no development immediately behind it. The sand here is the same as along the rest of Seven Mile Beach, pale and fine underfoot.

What you actually see

  • The public access - open frontage on a beach otherwise lined with hotels.
  • The close reef - coral within snorkelling distance of the shore.
  • The sea grape shade - the trees along the back of the sand.
  • The cemetery - the small burial ground the beach is named for.

When to go

December to April is the dry high season. Sargassum washes up in some months. June to November is the hurricane season.

Honest expectations

Parking fills up quickly at weekends. Facilities are minimal. The cemetery is in use and is not a curiosity to be wandered through.

Nearby

Seven Mile Beach runs south, and Hell is north.
