At the eastern tip of Grand Cayman the land ends in a low bluff of ironshore with a lighthouse on it, and the park around it looks out over the reef where the swell breaks continuously offshore. It is the highest point on this end of the island, which on Grand Cayman is not saying much, but the view along the coast in both directions is the best on the eastern side.
What you actually see
- The lighthouse - the light standing on the eastern point.
- The ironshore - the sharp weathered limestone along the cliff edge.
- The reef break - the swell working the reef continuously offshore.
- The coast view - the shoreline running away in both directions.
When to go
December to April is the dry high season. Wind on the point is constant in any month. Mornings have the best light.
Honest expectations
The ironshore is sharp enough to cut and there are no railings in places. There is no shade. The drive out from the tourist strip takes the best part of an hour.
