The North Sound is a wide sheltered basin at the top of Virgin Gorda, closed in by reef and by a ring of small islands including Prickly Pear, Mosquito and Saba Rock, and it is one of the best protected anchorages in the eastern Caribbean, which is why the yacht charter business concentrates here. Several resorts on the surrounding shores are reachable only by boat, and water taxis run between them from Gun Creek.

When to go
December to May is the sailing season and the busiest. Hurricane season runs June to November and empties the sound. Water taxis run from Gun Creek.
Honest expectations
Much of the sound is reachable only by boat and transport costs add up. The 2017 hurricanes did severe damage here and rebuilding has been uneven. Prices are high.
