Carrot Bay

Carrot Bay is a village strung along Tortola's northwestern shore, a fishing community rather than a resort, and it has a reputation on the island for food: several small restaurants here cook local dishes, fish, conch, fungi and pate, for a mostly local trade. The village holds a cultural festival in the summer built around food, music and craft. The shore itself is rocky rather than sandy. The village runs along the coast road with the houses on both sides of it, and the name is generally taken to be a corruption of an older Dutch or Carib word rather than anything to do with the vegetable.

December to May is the season. The cultural festival falls in the summer. Hurricane season runs June to November.
