Boracko jezero lies at around four hundred metres below the northern flank of Prenj, a glacial lake about eight hundred metres long left by ice that came down off the massif, and it is the largest of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The water is clear and cold, warming enough for swimming by midsummer, and the shore has campsites, a few pensions and restaurants and a small beach, used heavily by Konjic and Mostar residents at weekends. It is the usual starting point for walking routes up onto Prenj and for rafting on the upper Neretva, which runs nearby. Wooden bungalows and camping are the accommodation.

When to go
June to September for swimming and walking; the water is cold before midsummer. Weekends fill the shore. Autumn is quiet and colours the surrounding forest. Winter closes most facilities.
Honest expectations
The shore is developed with campsites and can be crowded and littered at weekends. The water is cold even in August. Facilities are basic. The road in is narrow.
