Spanish Point Park

Spanish Point is the western tip of Pembroke Parish, named for Spanish markings the early English settlers found on the rocks there, and the park at the end is a small headland with sheltered water on the harbour side and open sea beyond. The remains of a Victorian floating dock, towed out from England and eventually scuttled, lie in the shallows and are visible at low water. The point is used for swimming, picnics and boat launching.

When to go

March to November is the swimming season. Weekends bring local families. Hurricane season runs June to November.

Practical notes

The park is small and the beach is minimal. Facilities are basic. The dock remains are only visible in the right conditions.
