Carter House

Carter House on St David's Island is generally dated to around 1640 and is among the oldest surviving buildings in Bermuda, built of local limestone with the heavy chimneys, welcoming-arms stairs and stepped roof that mark the island's early domestic architecture. It is associated with the Carter family, descendants of one of the Sea Venture survivors. It now holds a small museum on St David's life, whaling, farming and the island's distinct community.
