Mount Hillaby

Mount Hillaby rises to 340 metres on the ridge above the Scotland District and is the highest ground in Barbados, which on an island this flat means the view runs a long way: the broken country of the Scotland District below on one side and the coral terraces sloping to the west coast on the other. The road runs close to the top and the walk from it is short.

When to go

December to May is the dry season with the clearest air. Haze cuts the long view at times. Mornings are cooler for the walk.

Honest expectations

At 340 metres it is a hill rather than a mountain and the climb is minimal. Vegetation blocks parts of the view. There are no facilities and parking is roadside.
