Grapefield Beach

Grapefield on Aruba's southeastern windward coast is a long stretch of sand with sea grape along the back, which is where the name comes from, and the Atlantic breaking on it unbroken. It is empty on almost any day because the water is not swimmable. Turtles nest along this coast in season and a small shrine stands at one end of the beach. Aruba's windward coast runs almost its whole length and almost none of it is developed, because none of it is swimmable.

When to go

December to April is the dry season. Turtles nest around March to September. The windward coast is rough year round.

Things to know

Swimming here is dangerous and should not be attempted. There is no shade and no facilities. Turtle nesting means the beach should be left alone at night.
