Devil's Bridge

At Indian Town Point on Antigua's eastern tip, the Atlantic has undercut a shelf of limestone and left a natural arch spanning a channel, with blowholes alongside it that spout when the swell drives in. The surf comes in unbroken from thousands of kilometres of open ocean, which is what has done the cutting. The whole point is a national park and the surrounding ground is dry scrub with no shade.

When to go

December to April is the dry season. Bigger swell gives more dramatic blowholes. The rock is exposed with no shade at any time.

Practical notes

The rock is unfenced and slippery; standing on the arch itself is a bad idea. There is no shade and the site is hot. Facilities are a car park and vendors.
