Sant Martí de la Cortinada

Sant Martí de la Cortinada is the Andorran Romanesque church that still has its paintings: twelfth-century murals on the northern wall and in a side chapel, rediscovered under later plaster in the 1960s and conserved in place rather than lifted and sold as happened elsewhere in the country. A wooden gallery, a carved altarpiece and a bell tower complete it, and the setting in the Ordino valley is among the prettiest in Andorra.

When to go

May to October is the pleasant season. Guided visits run at set times and the church is otherwise locked. Winter hours are reduced.
