Mutarazi Falls

The Mutarazi drops off the escarpment into the Honde valley in two stages totalling around seven hundred and sixty metres, which makes it the highest waterfall in Zimbabwe and one of the higher ones in Africa. It runs strongly in the rains and thins considerably in the dry season. A glass-floored skywalk and a long zip line were built at the lip in recent years, and paths run along the escarpment edge.

What you actually see

• The two-stage fall - a drop of around seven hundred and sixty metres off the escarpment.
• The Honde valley - the drop from highland to lowveld the fall descends into.
• The skywalk - the glass-floored platform built out over the lip.
• The zip line - the wire strung across the gorge.

When to go

December to April is the wet season and the fall is at its strongest. By late in the dry season it thins to very little. Mist on the escarpment is frequent.

Honest expectations

Flow drops a great deal in the dry months and the fall can disappoint. Mist closes the view often. The skywalk and zip line carry extra charges on top of park fees.
