The White Dune of Dakhla

In the Dakhla lagoon's turquoise shallows, geography stages its minimalist trick: the Dune Blanche rises as a white sand pyramid straight from the water, tides lapping its base so that the dune appears to float - a composition of exactly three elements (sand, water, sky) that photographs like an abstract and draws every visitor on the peninsula. Excursions time the tides: high water for the floating illusion and kayak approaches, low water for the walk-around and the flamingos working the exposed flats. Kitesurfers carve the channel beside it, completing the lagoon's signature scene.
